The pavilions are housed in giant zeppelin hangars left behind by the German army after WWI, a notable structure from the 20th century listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ventas Rumba in Kuldīga is the widest waterfall in Europe, and if you happen to be there in spring or autumn you can see the exciting phenomenon of fish jumping up the rapids as they try to clear them and head for spawning sites. The entire length can be admired from both sides of the river or from the old brick bridge, not far from the waterfall. Because of a fishing technique invented by the Duke of Courland with baskets the city was known as a place where you could catch salmon in the air! Can you believe that one could catch 80-100 salmon a day?

In the Old Town of Riga, at the Town Hall Square, it is a must to visit the House of the Blackheads.
