Located in the centre of the island of Bali, Ubud is a charming city surrounded by tropical forest and rice fields. First of all, please note that no airline operates direct flights from France. You will therefore have to make a stopover and take between 17 and 22 hours to reach Bali. KLM, for example, offers flights with a stopover in Amsterdam from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse and Nantes. You will disembark at Ngurah Rai International Airport, the only one on the island between Kuta and Jimbaran, about 37 kilometres from Ubud. To reach your rental, you can rent a car, take a taxi or the bus. There are also minibuses, called Bernos, which can carry up to 10 people. They are located at the exit of the airport, on the left.

It is a nature reserve that hosts more than 600 crab macaques in total freedom. Several groups coexist there, each occupying a well-defined part of the park. You can observe the monkeys in their natural environment by taking care to respect some safety rules such as not looking them in the eye, close your bags tightly because the monkeys are very curious and thieves, do not give them anything to eat... The small town is surrounded by rice fields. So all you have to do is get out of it a little bit to be able to discover them. To admire the terraced rice fields, you will have to go as far as Tegalalang. You can walk around there to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Feel free to move away a little if you want to enjoy the tranquility of the place.

Temples are numerous in the city and its surroundings. Located in the heart of the city, Saraswati Temple is particularly beautiful with its sculptures representing the demons of Balinese mythology. In the surroundings we can mention the temples Goa Gojah, Gunung Kawi Sebatu and Pura Tirta Empul which are really worth a visit.

This museum, which is the oldest on the island, is housed in a building with a typical Balinese architecture and features a collection of Balinese paintings (traditional or more contemporary), woodcarvings and works by European expatriate artists who have had a significant influence on art in Bali. It was created by the Dutch painter Rudolf Bonnet in the 1950s and over the years has grown into a vast complex comprising a bookshop, a café and a souvenir shop. The site also offers shows and workshops in painting, woodcarving, dance, music, batik, etc.

Located in the city centre, a large market offers Balinese handicrafts and local agricultural products. It is very popular with locals and the atmosphere, fragrances and colours alone are worth a visit. If you want to shop there, you will have to bargain, the prices being absolutely not fixed. You can negotiate for example statues, scarves, baskets, shirts and even kites.

The village of Petulu is located a little north of Ubud and has the particularity of hosting hundreds of herons and egrets at the end of the day. Indeed, around 5 p.m. the waders began to perch in the trees and reach their nests, offering a most fascinating spectacle. They settled in the village in the 1960s for a reason that is still unknown.

Located about 8 kilometres from Ubud, Tegenungan waterfall is accessible by car or scooter by a small road. You will then have to continue on foot for a few minutes to get to it as close as possible. The waterfall creates a natural swimming pool where you can cool off and bypass the waterfall from behind. The show is impressive.
