Don't miss the unique opportunity to visit one of the youngest volcanoes in the Eastern Mediterranean. Nea Kameni is an island of volcanic earth formed 450 years ago which you should not miss. The site is one of the highest points of interest in Santorini and to reach the 130m high crater, you will have to walk for about 20 minutes to be able to appreciate its beauty more closely.

Located in the northwest of Santorini, St. Nicholas Castle dates back to the 15th century and was once one of the most important residences on the island. The castle was home to the Byzantine aristocracy but unfortunately, much of the architecture was destroyed in the 1956 earthquake. Today only the ruins remain and they offer one of the most popular spots in Oia where you can appreciate the sunset and the impressive views from the walls of the old fortification.

If you love hiking, Santorini has the best hiking route for you. You can walk along the 10 km path that connects Fira with Oia. You will start in Fira, pass by Firostefani in the north and then by the village of Imerovigli. From there you will follow the rural road to Oia. The route takes about 3 to 5 hours and is considered low difficulty so it is ideal for beginners and experts. The best thing is that it offers you impressive views of the immense Aegean Sea and the volcanoes that will leave you amazed. Located in Fira, The Museum of Prehistory Thera has collections of prehistoric findings found in Santorini, Ancient Thera and the Minoan site of Akrotiri. It is a rather incredible site to visit which includes exhibits of unique ceramics, armaments, marble statues and Minoan fantastic frescoes such as the House of Ladies. Out of all of these objects, a clay oven and bathtub, as well as some vases, stand out. The museum has four exhibition sections with very detailed information that will give you a great perspective of how prehistoric times were.

If you want to know a little more about Akrotiri you should go to one of the main attractions of Santorini, the archaeological site of Akrotiri. Here lies a fully developed ancient Minoan village that was built around 4000 BC, but was later destroyed by an earthquake. The town was rebuilt again but unfortunately a century later was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. The lava and ashes surprisingly allowed the preservation of the place where even olive flowers were found under the ashes. You will be able to observe the details of the structures made of mud and pass by the footbridge to admire the city from above.

On your holiday to Santorini one summer activity you should do is see a film under the stars in the Kamari Cinema. You will be able to enjoy a selection of films (all in English) outdoors while the sun sets and the stars emerge in the darkness.
