1. Victoria, the capital

The capital of the island is Victoria, also known as Rabat. The city is home to a medieval citadel, an important Museum of Archaeology with prehistoric stone sculptures. The folklore museum within the citadel is also another interesting visit as well as Gozo cathedral, with great paintings from the Baroque era in the ceiling.

2. Visit the Neolithic Ġgantija Temple ruins

The Ġgantija Temple ruins are the remains of a Neolithic complex. There you can visit the megalithic Ġgantija Temples. These buildings are older than the pyramids of Egypt!

3. Watch the sunset

Sunsets are always magical. The tinged sky offering shades of reds, oranges and yellows captivates every single traveller. Gozo has the perfect spot for a sunset. A few years back, the Blue Window, a natural limestone also known as Dwejra Window formation collapsed after a storm in March 2017. Although it was a huge tourist attraction, the spot still offers the best sunsets around the island so if you like to capture sunsets with your camera, this is your place.

4. Visit the citadel

The citadel of Gozo is located in its capital, Victoria. After a walk to the top of the hill, the visit to the citadel is a must. Once on top, you will get rewarding views of the beautiful landscape, the domes of the several churches and the small fields. The shape of the citadel is quite round. It has been called the crown of Gozo. Inside the walls you can visit the Baroque cathedral. You will notice that half the place is home to several ruins, constantly being restored. The other half is where you find the cathedral, the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Old Prisons and the Natural History Museum.

5. Visit Ninu’s caves

Ninu’s Cave is an underground cave that was discovered in the late 1800s. The stalactites and stalagmites give the cave a unique appearance that attracts everybody’s attention. The cave is not the biggest one but it reaches 18 metres in width and 24 metres long. To access the cave you are shown by a guide of the family who owns the grounds where the cave is located.

6. Enjoy some Agrotourism

Ta’ Mena Estate is the way to get immersed in the typical Gozitan way of life in a natural environment. You have a fruit garden, an olive grove, vineyards and panoramic views. They produce their own wine, grow their veggies and press their olive oil. Try their tomato paste! The Estate is also a venue for weddings, birthdays or any other celebrations you can think of. You can have a cooking session, picnics and experience the process of how they make wine and oil.

7. Visit the saltpans

Around the shoreline of Corfu you find plenty of saltpans that date back from Roman times. The ancient civilisations used them to collect sea water and let it dry to obtain the white substance that will be refined and converted into salt.
